For the enzymatic cleavage of fused proteins and obtaining of desired portions of these fused proteins, (1) genetic engineering means are used to modify a junction region in which two portions of the fused protein are connected together so that in this junction region at least one IgA protease recognition site with the amino-acid sequence Y-Pro.< &darr& >.X-Pro is produced, where X can be any amino acid and Y can be any one or more amino acids, (2) the fused protein resulting from step (1) is cleaved by IgA protease at the position identified by .< &darr& >. in the recognition site and (3) after the cleavage one or more desired portions of the fused protein are obtained. |
