By reaction of 5,6-dialkoxyindolines with hydrobromic acid and subsequent direct crystallisation from the aqueous reaction mixture, 5,6-dihydroxyindolines of the general formula (I) <IMAGE> in which the radicals R<1> and R<3> independently of one another denote hydrogen or alkyl groups having 1 to 4 C atoms and the radical R<2> denotes hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 C atoms or a carboxyl group, are accessible in a simple manner. |
