To remove allergenic compositions from proteinaceous compositions, the protein present in the proteinaceous composition is decomposed with proteolytic enzymes into protein hydrolysate, the hydrolysate thus obtained is clarified and the clear solution is recovered, the hydrolysate solution obtained is passed into a column filled with adsorption resin and eluted with water, the solutions which have passed through the column and wherefrom allergenic compounds have been removed (or which have a substantially reduced amount of allergenic compounds) are recovered, if necessary salts are removed from the recovered solutions, and the recovered solutions are concentrated and if desired dried. The proteinaceous compositions thus obtained, which are substantially free of allergenic compounds, may be used in mother's milk substitutes and special nutritive preparations, or as components thereof. |
