Hepatitis c assay utilizing recombinant antigens to c-100 region |
abstract |
The present invention provides unique recombinant antigens representing distinct antigenic regions of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) genome which can be used as reagents for the detection of antibodies and antigen in body fluids. from individuals who have been exposed to the hepatitis C virus. The present invention also relates to a method for detecting the presence of an antibody directed against an HCV antigen, in a sample, said method consisting in bringing into contact the sample with the recombinant antigens. Preferred types of methods include a triage method, a confirmation method, a comparison or neutralization method, and a point deposit immunoassay method. |
