Hepatitis c assay utilizing recombinant antigens from ns5 region |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a unique recombinant antigen representing the NS5 antigenic region distinct from the HCV genome (hepatitis C virus) which can be used as a reagent for the detection of antibodies and antigens in bodily fluids of exposed individuals. hepatitis C virus (HCV). The present invention also relates to an analysis for detecting the presence of an antibody binding to an HCV antigen in a sample by bringing the sample into contact with the recombinant antigen. Preferred assay formats include screening assay, confirmatory assay, concurrency or neutralization assay and immunodote assay. |
