Synthetic nucleic acid fragments intended to modify the expression of selected, nutritionally important proteins in plants. Said fragments can be used to transform plants, in particular crop plants, and increase the content of lysine and methionine in seeds or leaves. The present invention is of considerable interest for the nutritional improvement of corn, which contains little lysine, and of plants poor in sulfur amino acids, such as corn and soybeans. Chimeric genes, host cells, plants, seeds and microorganisms containing said fragment of nucleic acids, as well as methods for obtaining the expression of particular proteins in plants and microorganisms are also described. . |
