The invention relates to a process for demetallizing feedstocks of hydrocarbons, such as residues or shale oil. The method uses a catalyst comprising at least one hydrogenation metal, such as nickel and molybdenum, and an ultra-large pore oxidizing agent. This ultra-large pore oxidizing agent may have uniformly large pores, e.g., 40 nm in diameter. |
