titleOfInvention BLOOD FILTER AND FILTRATION METHOD.
abstract Filtering material and method for filtering leukocytes from a fraction of human blood or whole human blood, which consists of using a nonwoven fabric, placed flat and retaining its shape, having a thickness of about 2 millimeters to about 12 millimeters and an apparent density of approximately 0.05 to 0.4 g / cm3. Said fabric comprises a plurality of staple tangled textile fibers (5) having average deniers situated between approximately 0.05 and 0.75 and average lengths ranging from approximately 3 millimeters to 15 millimeters. Said textile fibers (5) are distributed almost uniformly in the fabric so as to form a matrix of textile fibers (5) with spaces (7) between the adjacent interstices (6) of the entangled fibers (5). A plurality of fibrillated particles (10) of polymeric material, e.g. a material for textile fibers, having an area of 5 to 60 square meters per gram are practically arranged in the spaces (7) of the matrix.
