The invention relates to a process for the production of a dispersion, in which slightly crosslinked and dispersed polyvinyl seed particles are caused to swell by means of an ionizing liquid. These seed particles contain ionizable groups covalently linked, which cause the swelling of the seed particles by the ionizing liquid, in order to form a dispersion of droplets, the droplets thus produced having, after swelling, a volume equal to at least five times that of the seeding particles. The ionizing liquid can consist of a polymerizable monomer or contain such a monomer or be loaded with such a monomer. The polymerization of the monomers is carried out in the droplets during or after swelling, to form polymeric particles. |
