abstract |
Glycerides of fatty acids are transesterified with lower aliphatic alcohols if the reaction is carried out in the presence of fatty acids of formula (II): R2-COOH, in which R2 denotes an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue of 11 to 17 carbon atoms without no double bond or with 1 or 2 double bonds. The products obtained are characterized by a low content of bound glycerin and a low acid number. It is not necessary to carry out any separation or neutralization of the catalyst, since the fatty acids are also present, after transesterification, in the form of their esters. |
