The use of the elastase inhibitor 4-(4-chlorophenyl-sylphonylcarbamoyl)benzoyl-L-valyl-L-proline 1(RS)-(1-trifluoroacetyl-2-methylpropyl) amide, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in the treatment of certain vascular diseases in which neutrophils are involved, e.g. cardiovascular disease such as myocardial ischaemia, cerebrovascular disease such as stroke, peripheral vascular disease such as intermittent claudication, as well as in impaired reperfusion states such those associated with reconstructive vascular surgery. |
