titleOfInvention Ultraporous and microporous membranes and method of making membranes
abstract The ultraporous and microporous polymer membranes poured from metastable dispersions are considerably improved by limiting the time of exposure to the environment between pouring and cooling to less than 0.5, preferably less than 0.25 seconds, and by reducing the casting temperatures to values 10 to 20 ° C lower than the usual values used in the prior art. The resulting membranes have much less debris entrained in the membrane, much more uniform and constant pore sizes, a significantly larger number of surface pores and greatly increased flow rates for a given pore diameter.
