Methods of making electrophoretic display devices (10) are described. The methods essentially consist in using selective materials such as different metals (15, 18, 19, 20) capable of being etched by different etching agents. In this way, a laminate is produced which makes it possible to constitute a grid-shaped matrix which is isolated from a cathode matrix (41, 42, 43, 44), the grid-shaped matrix being also isolated from a second anode matrix (54, 55). The entire display uses a local anode or a second anode and a remote anode (28) to more precisely control the migration of pigment particles. The display (10) is produced by two methods, both of which are selective etching of parallel line type display electrodes, which constitute a cathode, a grid and a local anode. |
