A flame-retardant plastic molding compound with improved stability consists of 50 to 85% by weight, based on the total amount of the molding compound, of an olefin polymer and 15 to 50% by weight, based on the total amount of the molding compound, of a flame retardant system consisting of 80 to 50% by weight of an ammonium polyphosphate of the formula (NH 4 PO 3 ) n , where n is a number from 200 to 1000 (= component A), and 50 to 20% by weight of a reaction product of tris (2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate (THEIC) of the formula with an aromatic polycarboxylic acid of the formula (= Component B). The flame protection system to be used according to the invention increases both the processing temperature of the plastic molding composition and the water solubility of parts of the molding composition after processing. In addition, the flame-retardant plastic parts show a reduced tendency to "exude" components of the flame retardant system. |
