titleOfInvention Non-ozone depleting, non-flammable tire sealer and inflater composition
abstract A novel inflation and sealing composition for tires is described, which comprises in combination a sealing material in an aqueous carrier and a non-flammable, non-ozone-reducing blowing / propellant. A preferred composition comprises a sealant composition combined with 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (134a). According to a preferred embodiment, a vapor pressure lowering agent is combined with the sealant and the element (134a). A preferred sealant and inflation composition comprises about 20 to about 80% of the element (134a), about 2 to about 10% of a sealant such as latex or a polyvinyl acetate emulsion; about 1 to about 8% of a freezing point lowering agent, such as an alkylene glycol; about 0.1 to about 1% of a corrosion inhibitor such as ammonia; about 30 to about 70% of a support such as water; and from about 4 to about 40% of a vapor pressure lowering agent, such as a glycol ester. A preferred vapor pressure lowering agent is 2-butoxyethanol, and a preferred freezing point lowering agent is ethylene glycol. Preferably, the sealing composition, combined with the element (134a) or another non-flammable blowing / propelling agent that does not decrease the ozone layer, is biodegradable.
