abstract |
For the preparation of superabsorbent powders consisting of partially neutralized polyacrylic acid, according to a process comprising the formation of a polymer gel by a first polymerization of monomer in reverse suspension followed by the polymerization of a second charge of monomer absorbed in this gel, successively fillers of acrylic acid monomer respectively superneutralized and sub-neutralized with respect to the neutralization rate of the final polymer. The powders thus obtained consist of spheroidal particles. It is very advantageous to carry out this process using suitably chosen emulsifiers so that the phase of absorption of monomer by the intermediate gel can be carried out at temperatures of the order of 35-45 ° C. |
