titleOfInvention DEVICE FOR THE STORAGE OF ORGANS.
abstract Organ preservation apparatus, comprising a chamber receiving the organ, a pulsation pump in continuous and uninterrupted fluid communication with the chamber receiving the organ, and a fluid supply tube reciprocally connecting the chamber and the pulsation pump to pass organ preservation fluid from the chamber to the pump. This is configured so as to pass the organ preservation fluid towards the chamber receiving the organ in a sequence of dicrotic pulses. The organ receiving chamber includes an outer box having an insulated internal region, an organ receiving member removably placed in the insulated region, and a cover releasably attached to the outer box. The pulsation pump includes a bladder-shaped pump, a motor, and a cam connected to the motor. The cam is connected to an actuator so as to compress the bladder-shaped pump in a sequence of dicrotic pulses. A pressure transducer is connected to the fluid passage between the pulsation pump and the chamber receiving the organ in order to measure the diastolic and systolic pressure of the fluid.
