titleOfInvention | Polymers capable of baromechanical and barochemical transduction |
abstract | Composition expanding under the effect of a pressure exerted on it, containing a polymeric material whose reverse thermal transition is close to that of water in the liquid state, in which at least a fraction of the monomers present in the polymer contains a hydrophobic group in a sufficient proportion to give the polymer a pressure-delta-volume / delta / entropy ratio of at least 0.2 ° K. The composition can be used in a large number of different applications, to obtain mechanical work or to generate chemical modifications in a sealed environment, by modification of the pressure of the composition, the degree of mechanical or chemical modification being determined by the choice of the number, the degree of hydrophobicity, the size of the hydrophobic group and the presence or absence of reactive functional groups in the polymer. |
