Film of polyarylene ether with A) 1 to 100 mol%, proportion of repeating units of the formula (I) - [- O-Tr-O-E '-] - (I) and B) 0 to 99 mol% of repeating units of the formula (Ia) - [- OEO-E '-] - (Ia) wherein E the rest of a dihydric phenol, as well E 'represents the residue of a divalent aromatic dihalogen compound Tr is the residue of a dihydric phenol of formula (II) or (IIa) wherein R, R¹, R² are identical or different and are hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy groups or benzene-fused radicals, and x is zero or an integer 1, 2, 3 or 4.n n n These films have a high glass transition temperature, high heat resistance, good mechanical properties, high chemical resistance and are permeable to many gases. They can therefore be used advantageously as a membrane for gas permeation. It is possible to use the foils alone or in combination with other foils. |
