New protein, called TAP 29, obtained from the tuber of the plant Trichosanthes kirilowii or produced by recombinant means and having efficacy in the treatment of HIV infections or tumors. In the treatment of HIV infections, the protein is given alone or in combination with standard AIDS therapies. The invention also describes methods of purifying the protein, hosts expressing the protein, methods based on recombinant DNA and serving to express the protein, as well as antibodies specific for said protein. |
