Genes encoding disulfide-linked micro-proteins and metal ion-coordinated mini-proteins are subjected to semi-random mutagenesis and expressed in appropriate cells, so as to obtain a simultaneous representation of the different mutant proteins on the cell surfaces bacterial, spore, or phage; the members having the capacity to bind to a target of interest are sorted in the representation bank thus obtained. |
