abstract | Herbicidal derivatives of halocetic acid corresponding to the formula (I) and salts of these derivatives. In the formula, A represents -N= or -CH=; X represents halo; R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, each represent alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, halo, alkylamino or dialkylamino; R3 is -CN, -COOR5, -CONR6R7, -CSNH2, -CHO, -CH=Z, -CH(OAlkyl)2, -CH2OH, -CH2OR9, or a substituted or unsubstituted 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic group bonded by a ring carbon atom which is located between two ring heteroatoms; R4 represents H or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group; r5 is H, -N=CR6aR6b or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group; R6 is H or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroaryl group; R7 is a group corresponding to the definition of R6 or represents -SO2R8, -OH, -CN, -OR10, -NH2, or -NHR10; or R6 and R7 together form a ring; R8 is -NR6aR6b or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroaryl group; R9 is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or acyl group; R10 is a group corresponding to the definition of R9 or is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heteroaryl group; Z represents =N-NR6R12 or =NOR6; R12 is a group corresponding to the definition of R6, or is a substituted or unsubstituted acyl group; and R6a and R6b, which may be the same or different, each represent a group corresponding to the definition of R6; provided that when R4 is naphthyl or ortho-substituted phenyl, any ortho-substituent in that group is halogen, -NO2, -OH, -OR10, -SH, -SR8, -SO2R8, -NH2, -NR6R10, aryl or heteroaryl. |
