A compound which is an alkyl ester of trans-PGE 1 , characterised by the formula :n LxI -1 5 -deoxy-16-hydroxy-16-methyln in which R represents a C 1 -C 4 alkyl group, preferably methyl, ethyl or isopropyl, is useful as a medicament to stimulate uterine contractions. Intermediates and methods of preparing same and converting such intermediates to the final product are also disclosed. |
