Viral particles having altered host range |
abstract |
The present invention describes the incorporation of specific membrane-associated proteins into enveloped vector particles to provide an altered host range for these viruses. In a model system, the incorporation of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) G protein into retroviral vectors based on Moloney murine leukemia virus (MoMLV) is described. The invention describes methods for introducing genes into modified viruses, as well as the nucleic acid, proteins and cell lines associated with the modified virus. These gene introduction methods are used in various gene therapy methods. |
