titleOfInvention | MICROCAPSULES AND MICROENCAPSULATION METHOD. |
abstract | Microcapsules are produced containing a liquid material insoluble in water, such as an anilide herbicide and possibly also an antidote against said herbicide, inside a porous envelope, in order to obtain a slow release rate. said herbicide (and optionally its antidote) through said envelope, according to a process comprising the following steps: (a) forming an organic solution including said material and an etherified amino resin prepolymer dissolved in said solution, which, from from about 50% to about 98% of the methylol groups of said prepolymer have been etherified with a C4-C10 alcohol; (b) creation of an emulsion of said organic solution in an aqueous solution in continuous phase comprising water and an active surface agent, said emulsion comprising discrete droplets of said organic solution, an interface thus being formed , between said discrete droplets of the organic solution and the surrounding continuous phase aqueous solution; and (c) provoking self-condensation in situ and hardening of said amino resin prepolymer in the organic phase of said discrete droplets contiguous to said interface by simultaneously heating said emulsion to a temperature between approximately 20 ° C and 100 ° C, and adding an acidifying agent to said emulsion keeping it at a pH between about 0 and about 4 for a time sufficient to allow the in situ condensation of said resin prepolymers to end, in order to convert the liquid droplets of said organic solution in capsules constituted by solid and permeable polymer envelopes containing said liquid material. The invention also describes the microcapsules produced by said method. |
