titleOfInvention | TREATING AN AUTOPHORETIC COATING USING AN ALKALINE AGENT CONTAINING MULTIFUNCTIONAL ORGANIC ACIDS. |
abstract | The adhesion and/or corrosion resistance of a coating produced by autodeposition can be improved by rinsing the uncured coating with an aqueous treatment solution whose pH is between 7 and 11 and which contains between 0. 05 and 5% by weight of aions from multifunctional organic acids, preferably anions of 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic, citric, tartaric and/or oxalic acids. This process is particularly useful for use on leaf springs and other metallic objects having high carbon steel and/or metallic shot surfaces; this process is also particularly useful when associated with an autodeposition bath containing poly (vinylidene chloride) latex stabilized therein, hydrofluoric acid, ferric fluoride, and hydrogen peroxide . |
