titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A PYROGEN-FREE AND WELL SOLUBLE IN WATER FRUCTANE, AS WELL AS A RENAL DIAGNOSTIC AGENT CONTAINING SUCH A FRUCTANE. |
abstract | There is disclosed a process for the manufacture of a fructan well soluble in water as well as a well tolerated renal diagnostic agent containing such a fructan. In this process, an aqueous fructan extract obtained from certain parts of plants is ultrafiltered through a first membrane retaining carbohydrates and proteins of greater molecular weight, but allowing fructan to pass, and the filtrate thus obtained is filtered. then in a second ultrafiltration through a membrane retaining the fructan, but allowing the passage of salts and low molecular weight materials, such as mono- and oligosaccharides. The fructan thus obtained is used as a renal diagnostic agent together with physiologically tolerable buffer substances in an osmolality which corresponds to that of the blood and has a pH between 5.0 and 7.0. |
