abstract | A silver halide photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer provided on a support. In the photographic material of the present invention, the silver halide emulsion layer contains a tellurium compound represented by the formula (I) or (II):n n in which each of R¹¹ and R¹² is -OR¹³, -NR¹⁴R¹⁵, -SR¹⁶ or hydrogen; R¹¹ and R¹² may be combined with each other to form a heterocyclic ring; each of R²¹ and R²² is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group, -OR²³, -NR²⁴R²⁵, -SR²⁶ or hydrogen; R²¹ and R²² may be combined with each other to form a heterocyclic ring; each of X¹ and X² is oxygen, sulfur or =NR¹⁷; each of X³ and X⁴ is oxygen, sulfur or =NR²⁷; each of R¹³, R¹⁴, R¹⁵, R¹⁶, R¹⁷, R²³, R²⁴, R²⁵, R²⁶ and R²⁷ is an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group or hydrogen; R¹⁴ and R¹⁵ may be combined with each other to form a heterocyclic ring; and R²⁴ and R²⁵ may be combined with each other to form a heterocyclic ring. |
