abstract | An optically addressed spatial light modulator comprises a multilayer-type photoconductive (5) layer comprising a charge carrier generation layer (3) which is made of one kind or more than two kinds of photoconductive material, and a charge carrier transport layer (4) of a material having a large mobility. The liquid crystal layer (8) is a liquid crystal/resin composite layer comprising a liquid crystal and a transparent resin having an equivalent refractive index to ordinary refractive index of the liquid crystal. Either the resin is dispersed into the liquid crystal, or the liquid crystal is dispersed into the resin. The photoconductive layer and the liquid crystal/resin composite layer are fixed to each other and the transparent electrodes (9) are fixed to the two opposite side of these layers. The light modulator can write with various spectral light such as an infrared ray emitted from a semiconductor laser and the like, and has good sensitivity, high light transmittance, hardness, good spatial uniformity, high productivity. |
