abstract This invention relates to hydroxamic acid derivatives represented by formula (I) which inhibit the enzyme lipoxygenase. These compounds, as well as their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, are useful for treating or alleviating inflammatory diseases, allergic conditions and cardiovascular diseases in mammals and for serving as active constituents in pharmaceutical compositions intended for treating such pathological conditions.
