A method of producing a glass panel (10) for a LCD device. The method comprises depositing on at least one surface (14,16) of the panel (10) a transparent film (12) from an atmosphere of an atomized, or ionized, inert, refractory material, or reactive precursor, the film (12) being 50-500 nm thick. The panel (10) is subjected to a heat treatment to compact the glass, the deposited film preventing glass adherence during the compacting heat treatment. |
