titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for breast imaging
abstract The invention relates to a system which uses Doppler modulation parameters to produce an estimate of the amplitude of the vibrations of an object under examination and in which a low frequency vibration source is used to cause a forced oscillation. of the object under examination, and a coherent or pulsed ultrasound imaging system is used to detect the spatial distribution of the amplitude of the object's vibrations in real time. The reflected Doppler shift waveform, which is generated by reflection of ultrasonic waves against the vibrating object under examination, is used to calculate the amplitude of the vibrations and the frequency of the object, thanks to the use of two alternative methods, either on the basis of an estimator in the frequency domain or on the basis of an estimator in the time domain. This system can also be used for chest imaging and for tumor detection. By adapting the conformation of the chest to a regular geometry, by exciting the own specific vibratory modes and by analyzing the Doppler modulation parameters, one can calculate the parameters of transverse and longitudinal waves inherent in the tissues of the chest and these parameters can be used detect tumors and other abnormalities.
