titleOfInvention TRAINING PROCEDURE OF A NEURONAL NETWORK.
abstract Method for forming a neural network (2) having dynamically adjustable parameters controlled by a controller (10) which determines the response of the network (2). A series of input vectors (I1 to In) is introduced into the network (2) by an input port (4). The corresponding series of output vectors (O1 to On) supplied by the network (2) is compared to a series of target output vectors (O1 to On) by an error recorder (12) which supplies the controller (10) a measure of similarity between the two series. The controller (10) is designed to modify the independence of the dynamic parameters as a function of the average number of incidences where the output vectors differ from the respective target output vectors. By measuring the similarity of the entire output series and the target series and adjusting the parameters according to this global measure, as opposed to measuring similarity between pairs of individual vectors, it is possible obtain improved training rates for neural networks with a data rate which may be greater than the speed at which parameters can be adjusted.
