titleOfInvention Image intensifier tube with intensity distribution compensation
abstract The invention relates to image intensifier tubes, and more particularly to radiological image intensifiers.n n n To obtain a more uniform distribution of brightness of the output image for uniform illumination of entry, the invention proposes to interpose between the scintillator layer (12) and the photocathode (16) an intermediate layer (14) of radially variable thickness (in practice thicker in the center) made of a material which modifies the emissive properties of the photocathode as a function of its thickness. In practice, the intermediate layer may simply be the In₂O₃ electrode deposited under the photocathode, the thickness of this layer being radially variable to obtain the desired gloss profile compensation.
