titleOfInvention Vaccine suitable for combatting bordetella pertussis
abstract The invention relates to vaccines, which are suitable for combatting Bordetella pertussis, the causative organism of whooping cough. More in particular, the vaccines comprise, as active component, one or more outer membrane proteins (OMPs) derived from Bordetella pertussis or from genetically manipulated microorganisms producing said OMPs. Preferably the OMPs having a molecular weight of about 32 kDa and 92 kDa - either separate or as a combination of both - are applied as the active component. According to an embodiment of the invention the OMPs in question are present in an outer membrane vesicle (OMV) formulation or in an artificial vesicle formulation like a protein-detergent formulation.
