titleOfInvention | Substituted tricyclic compounds |
abstract | The invention relates to compounds represented by the formula (Q); where: X and Y form a closed heterocyclic chain with 5 or 6 elements, containing at least one nitrogen; Z represents a hydrogen, halogen, carbon, oxygen or nitrogen atom; U represents a carbon or nitrogen atom; n is 0 or the integer 1; V represents a carbon or nitrogen atom; W represents a carbon or nitrogen atom; A, which is in position 1 or 2, represents a nitrogen atom, a sulfur atom or a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group; Ar represents an aryl or heteroaryl group having one or more closed chains, and B represents either (i) an oxygen or nitrogen atom or a group -CO- or -SO2-, element which, whatever it is linked to an amino acid, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or an alkyl group; or (ii) a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group. Such compounds have the power to inhibit the enzyme thymidilate synthase (TS). The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing these tricyclic compounds and to the use of these compounds to produce the inhibiting effect of the TS enzyme, as well as all the effects derived from this inhibiting effect of the TS enzyme. 'TS enzyme. The effects derived from the inhibiting effect of the enzyme TS are the inhibition of the growth and proliferation of cells of higher organisms and of microorganisms, such as yeasts and fungi, as well as an anti-tumor action. |
