DNA sequences, derived from Latococcus Lactis subsp. lactis, are effective as promoters and promoter / secretory promotion signals for heterologous or homologous expression in Gram positive bacteria. In another aspect, the invention relates to vectors, such as plasmids, comprising the sequences of said invention, and to host cells transformed with said vectors. However, additional aspects of the invention relate to methods of producing the desired heterologous or homologous peptides or proteins, using the sequences, vectors, or transformed hosts described by the invention. By means of the invention, considerably improved heterologous and homologous expression and secretion can be achieved in E. coli and Gram positive bacteria such as B. subtilis, Lactococci and Lactobacillus. |
