New process for obtaining methyl tertiary amines which consists in reacting hexamethylenetetramine on various nitrogenous precursors in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst. The reaction is very selective, the methylation being carried out solely on the nitrogen amines and nitriles. According to the invention, methylated amines corresponding to initial derivatives as diverse as fatty mono or polyamines, amino alcohols, etheramines, nitriles, aminonitriles, etc. are very easily obtained. |
