abstract |
The invention describes a process for preparing a copolymer suitable for use in an optical element, comprising the step of radical polymerization of a composition which comprises at least a first monomer represented by formula (I) at least a second monomer represented by one of the formulas whatever it is (II, III), or (IV) and between 0.005 and 1.0% by weight the said polymerizable composition of an organic chain transfer agent having a coefficient of chain transfer at 50-60 ° C greater than 0.5 with an acrylic or styrenic monomer; this preparation process is carried out in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator. The invention also describes a copolymer suitable for use as an optical element obtained by means of the preceding method, as well as an optical element comprising said polymer. The process described by the invention essentially produces polymers free of striations which can be used to manufacture optical elements including thick glasses for spectacles. |
