abstract A transportable apparatus for biological treatment of a slurry of contaminated materials, including a series of square reactor cells (12) having substantially parabolic lower portions (16,18,20,22), set at the same elevation and communicating in series. Gas diffusers (36) are placed in each cell (12) for aerating and mixing the slurry, and an airlift slurry transport system (28) is employed for recirculating the slurry. The apparatus also has applicability to the treatment of water and waste water.
