abstract The invention relates to magnetic recording media, obtained by producing a dispersion of anisotropic magnetic material and conventional additives in a solution of a polymeric binder in an organic solvent, layered application of the dispersion on a non-magnetizable carrier material, subsequent alignment of the anisotropic magnetic material in a magnetic field and solidification of the applied magnetic layer, the magnetic layer containing hydrophobicized polysilicic acid and possibly a highly viscous polysiloxane.
