abstract Process for treating a chemical liquid, in particular a photographic effluent, so as to make it more acceptable to the environment. An alkaline solution of a group III metal or transition element salt is added to said chemical liquid so that it forms a complex with a sequestering agent and causes it to precipitate. The salts are preferably aluminum sulfate, halide, oxychloride or nitrate.
