abstract |
An improved process for the carbonylation of methanol to acetic acid and / or its derivatives, in particular methyl acetate, under mild reaction conditions and using a novel catalytic precursor is described. The precursor is a transition metal complex having a bicoordinate heterodifunctional phosphorus-nitrogen ligand. The carbonylation reaction can now be carried out at a typical temperature of 80 ° C and a typical CO gauge pressure of 40 psi. |
