The compounds of general formula I M- (CHâ‚‚) n - (O) m - [- DB-] q -Y, (I) in which M denotes a radical of 2 to 5 silicon atoms in a linear, branched or cyclic arrangement which are connected to one another with bridge elements A, the remaining valences of the silicon atoms being saturated with radicals R and in which A, R, m, D, B , q and Y have the meaning given in claim 1, are liquid crystals and can be used alone or as a mixture with other liquid crystals. |
