Improved method and composition for accelerating hair growth in mammals for treating various forms of alopecia or baldness in humans, comprising the concomitant administration of potassium channel openers, such as minoxidil, cromakalim or pinacidil, or a compound selected from the categories of s-triazine, thiane-1-oxide, benzopyran and pyridinopyran compounds, as well as 5alpha-reductase inhibitors, 17beta- (N-tert-butylcarbamoyl) 4-aza -5-alpha-androst-1-in-3-one. The method includes administering an effective dose of the potassium channel-opening agent and administering an effective dose of 17beta- (N-tert-butylcarbamoyl) -4-aza-5-alpha- androst-1-en-3-one; therefore, hair growth is accelerated by the single administration of the potassium channel opening agent. |
