LIQUID CRYSTALLINE POLYMERS AND METHOD FOR YOUR LIGHT-INDUCED ORIENTATION FOR REVERSIBLE INFORMATION STORAGE. |
abstract |
An optical recording medium includes a liquid crystal polymer matrix composed of at least one side chain polymer. At least a part of the side chains connected to the fundamental structure of the polymer contains at least one group with variable conformation by photo-induction and at least a part of the side chains contains a group with mesogenic properties. This optical recording medium is characterized in that the group with mesogenic properties contains at least one unit forming hydrogen bridges, or in that the group with variable conformation by photo-induction contains at least one stilbene residue, or by the fact that the group with mesogenic properties is linked to the fundamental structure of the polymer by the group with variable conformation by photo-induction. The basic structure of the polymer consists of a polymethylsiloxane chain and the conformationally variable group by photo-induction consists of a carbonyl-vinyl-phenyl group. A high amplification factor and a high long-term stability of the recorded information have been observed in these polymers. |
