titleOfInvention | UNSATURATED 17-BETA-SUBSTITUTED-3-CARBOXY STEROIDS. |
abstract | The invention relates to steroidal alpha-reductase inhibitors having the formula (I), wherein Y represents oxygen or sulfur; R represents a group: a) -OR4, where R4 represents hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group; b) (1), wherein R5 and R6 each independently represents hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group; c) (2), where R7 represents hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group and W represents a group: (i) (3), where R8 represents a C1-C6 alkyl group, a C5-C6 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C9 cycloalkylealkyl group, a phenyl group or a benzyl group; where (ii) (4), where R9 represents a C1-C6 alkyl group or a C5-C6 cycloalkyl group; or (iii) (5), where R5 and R6 have the above defined notation; d) (6), where R10 and R11 each independently represents hydrogen or a C1-C6 alkyl group, or with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, they form a saturated heteratomocyclic pentatomic or hexatomic ring, optionally containing at least one additional heteroatom chosen between oxygen and nitrogen, and n represents an integer between 2 and 4; R1 represents hydrogen, a C1-C6 alkyl group, a C5-C6 cycloalkyl group, a C6-C9 cycloalkylealkyl group or an aryl group; R2 and R3 are each, independently, chosen from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, C5-C6 cycloalkyl, C6-C9 cycloalkylealkyl and aryl, or R2 and R3, with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form a saturated pentatomic or hexatomic heteromonocyclic ring, optionally containing at least one additional heteroatom chosen from oxygen and nitrogen; and the symbol (----) represents a single or double bond provided that when it is a double bond the hydrogen in the 5alpha position does not exist, as well as their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. Due to their activity inhibiting 5alpha reductase, the compounds of the invention can be used in the treatment of pathological conditions linked to androgen. |
