abstract Method for cleaning soil polluted by at least one heavy metal, characterised in that a suspension of the soil in water is brought into contact with heavy metal resistant bacteria of the species Alcaligenes eutrophus in a concentration of more than 10⁷ cells per millilitre and a carbon source with a pH of between 5.5 and 9.5 and after a time the mixture is allowed to settle, after which the sediment is separated from the upper layer.
