Methods for detecting mammalian genes which encode proteins which may act in microorganisms, in particular yeast, are described to modify, supplement, or delete a genetic defect associated with an identifiable alteration or phenotypic characteristic in this micro- organization. Also described are mammalian DNA sequences recloned according to the above method, as well as polypeptide products of the expression of DNA sequences in prokaryotic or eukaryotic host cells and antibody substances that specifically exhibit immunological reaction to said expression products. In particular, the present invention describes methods for cloning mammalian genes which encode products which modify, complete or delete a genetic defect in a biochemical pathway in which the cAMP participates or in a biochemical pathway which is controlled, directly or indirectly, by a RAS protein, products (RNA, proteins) encoded by mammalian genes cloned in this way, and antibodies that can bind the encoded proteins. |
