titleOfInvention | Cd46 variants |
abstract | CD46 (membrane cofactor protein) is a family of human cell surface glycoproteins with cofactor activity for factor I-mediated cleavage of complementary components C3b and C4b. New nucleic acid sequences are described originating from spliced variants of the structural gene encoding the protein family, or derivatives of these variants. Proteins derived from recombination and antibodies thereto can be produced from said sequences. The proteins may resemble the undenatured isoforms of CD46, or may contain new permutations of exons within the structural gene. Nucleic acids, proteins and antibodies are useful as probes, diagnostic reagents and therapeutic agents. |
